Ashley Stevanovich

Each of the 50 United States of America have an official flower. This flower serves as a symbol and representation of the state and it's citizens. Ashley Stevanovich has a great interest in state flowers. Maine's state flower isn't exactly a flower, but a white pine cone and tassel. It was selected after state officials saw the cone in a floral emblem at the World Fair.

Ashley Stevanovich would be interested to know the controversy that surrounded the Minnesota state flower. In 1893 the State Senator named the lady slipper the state's official flower. There was an outcry when it was later discovered that the lady slipper couldn't be found in Minnesota.

Ashley Stevanovich
loves to learn about the stories and histories of each state's flower. The official state flower of Alabama used to be the goldenrod. It was chosen by school children in the early 1900's, but was changed to the camellia when it was discovered that many people were allergic to goldenrod and was considered to be a weed.

Sak Narwal

Sak Narwal has a great passion for fishing. He has been obsessed with the sport since he was a young boy. This love for fishing has brought Sak Narwal to some of the most beautiful places in the world. He's traveled to fish for bass in California on Dixon Lake and he's traveled to the Apalachicola River to fish for Catfish in the Florida Panhandle.

Although Sak Narwal sometimes enjoys a fish dinner, he is what is known as a "catch and release"fisherman. This is a conservation technique. After a fish is caught, it is returned to the water before injury or death.

One of his favorite places to fish is Montauk, NY. Here on the eastern most part of Long Island Sak Narwal fishes for shark.
