Dr. Paul Offit MD is the Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases and the Director of the Vaccine Education Center at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and has dedicated his life to the study of infectious diseases and vaccines. Dr. Paul Offit has written five books on vaccinations and published more than 130 papers.
Gastroentinitis, also known as Rotovirus, kills more than 600,000 children every year. Dr. Paul Offit worked for 25 years to develop a safe and effective vaccine against Rotovirus. The CDC has recently recommended RotaTeq, the vaccine that fights Rotovirus, for universal use in infants. For this work, Dr. Offit was honored with the Gold Medal from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Jonas Salk Medal from the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology.
